The core EPRI team conducts as outside consulting team the Macedonian part of the joint project Model for Health Care Budget Watch. The other project partners are the International Centre for Policy Studies, Ukraine, Public Policy Research Center, Kazakhstan and the Euro-Balkan Institute,
R. Macedonia.

The overall project goal is to enhance the public awareness and participation on the local level through developing effective mechanisms of public control over health care spending, which could be applicable for SEE, CEE countries and Central Asia.

The main project activities include:

- initial research on the best international experience in the area of budget watch;

- analysis of institutional and legal framework for the public control over budget spending in SEE,CEE countries and Central Asia;

- analysis of existing situation with data availability and dissemination of information on the health protection spending;

- development of public budget watch model;

- preparation of independent analysis of budget for health protection in one selected city of each country-participant in the project.

The anticipated project result is development of usable sub-national budget watch model, which includes: main requirements to legislative and institutional framework; main requirements to the information dissemination; example of independent analysis of budget spending on health care.
